WebBacterial speck is a disease of increasing importance. Yield loss results from defoliation and the reduced market value of the specked fruit. The disease affects both leaves and fruit. While leaf wetness is required for both bacterial spot and bacterial speck infection, cooler temperatures (55 F to 77 F) favor speck.
