I have mikenye/readsb running on this docker instance which actually receives and decrypts the ADS-B signals, along with unrelated software which I use to receive and record live TV broadcasts.. If the controller makes a typo, then you won't appear on FlightAware. Or, if another controller mistakenly enters your tail number for someone else, it will look like you're flying when you're not. From their FAQ:
