WebProbably got some kind of oil or grease on the pads. Sometimes it goes away with use and it gets hot enough to burn away. If the brakes don't bite at all, you probably need new pads. I'd clean the rotor with automtoive brake cleaner before new pads though. I guess you could try automotive brake cleaner on the pads you have now also.
